It started with Medline, the country’s largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies.  In an effort to open the line of communication between healthcare workers and their patients, Medline created a line of pink exam gloves called Generation Pink.  The hope was to get people talking about breast cancer.  Medline also pledged to donate $1 for every case purchased to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to fund mammograms to those who could otherwise not afford them.

To help spread the word about their pink products and commitment, Medline came up with the idea to create a video featuring healthcare workers wearing the Generation Pink gloves and dancing.

The video caught on and was featured on several national news broadcasts and other national and local media outlets.  As a result, it has now become a movement complete with its own website, PinkGloveDance.com.

The response was so great, new videos came pouring in from all over the country.  Not just from the healthcare facilities, but elementary schools, a minor league baseball team, and a woman’s basketball team all submitted their own pink glove dance videos.  This sparked the 2010 release of Pink Glove Dance Sequel:
