Last night, the winners of the second annual North American Office Products Awards were announced in Las Vegas.

Best Product: Core Office Products – The Winner Is…..

Pilot Pen’s FriXion Light Highlighter was the winner in the category Best Product: Core Office Products at the first annual North American Office Products Awards Dinner held in Miami Beach on June 24, 2010.  This is the product you must have handy both in the office, and on the road.  I love this highlighter.  Not only does it just look cool, but the fact that you can highlight something and then erase it – without a trace, is definitely something that makes it stand out in a drawer full of highlighters.

What makes this highlighter unique is the thermo-sensitive ink that can be applied and erased over and over without damaging the page.  There is a rounded nub on the end of the highlighter, that when used like you would use an eraser on the end of a pencil, causes friction (or should I say FriXion).  The heat from the friction is what removes the ink from the page.  There is no mess, no torn paper, no eraser to replace.

Erasable highlighters are not recommended for use on official legal documents. If highlighter is exposed to temperature that reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit, the ink will be colorless when highlighting. To restore color, cool to at least 14 degrees Fahrenheit in freezer, and the ink will highlight in color again.

There is another member of the FriXion family that is worth mentioning and is just as useful – the FriXion Ball Erasable Gel Pen.  FriXion Ball Erasable Gel Pen allows you to erase and rewrite repeatedly without damaging documents. Like the highlighter, thermo-sensitive gel ink formula disappears with erasing friction of rubber tail plug eraser on the pen. Erasing leaves no residue or debris. Pen can write on the same spot that has been erased. Gel/rollerball pen delivers smooth writing gel ink and is not recommended for signatures, examination papers or official documents where writing needs to remain permanent or for exposure to extreme temperatures.

If you are a fan of erasable ink products and you haven’t tried the FriXion product line, you might want to add one to your next office supply order and give it a try.  If nothing else, you could say that you use an award-winning highlighter.

On June 24, 2010, the first annual North American Office Products Awards (NAOPA) dinner was held in Miami, Florida.  Eight awards were given to products in the industry that proved to be both innovative and down-right cool.
